Our Story

Vilanculos Beach Lodge is a refined coastal retreat shaped by the beauty, warmth, and unmistakable character of Mozambique. Set along a natural ridge above the shoreline, the lodge looks across the Indian Ocean and is enveloped by a lush tropical landscape. At its heart, a serene infinity pool stretches towards the horizon, creating an atmosphere of calm from the moment you arrive.

Located in Vilankulo, within Mozambique’s subtropical Inhambane Province, the lodge offers a privileged mainland setting from which to discover the extraordinary Bazaruto Archipelago National Park, its pristine islands, turquoise waters, and remarkable marine life.

Our collection of 21 bungalows and one spacious Family Suite is thoughtfully arranged approximately 100 metres back from the beach. Traditional Mozambican architecture and locally inspired materials, including natural thatch, simbire hardwood poles, and timber-framed doors and windows, bring depth, texture, and an authentic sense of place to every space.

The spirit of Vilanculos Beach Lodge is found in its people. Our gardeners, chefs, housekeepers, and front-of-house team are the unseen heroes behind each stay, quietly attending to every detail and sharing the genuine Mozambican hospitality for which the lodge is known.

Days unfold at an unhurried pace, from beautifully prepared meals at our restaurant and bar to calming treatments at the day spa. Our conference venue provides a polished coastal setting for meetings, private gatherings, and corporate retreats, allowing business and leisure to come together with ease.

Before departing, guests are invited to browse our boutique gift store, where two thoughtfully curated display areas showcase locally handmade crafts and distinctive keepsakes. Selected pieces may also be custom-made on request, offering a meaningful reminder of time spent in Mozambique.
